Mission

Fattoria CastiglionchioValtellina Moto Touring, Inc. (VMT) provides unique luxury tour services to the discriminating motorcyclist. Our tours visit the most attractive motorcycling destinations in Europe and combine first-class equipment, guidance and on-road amenities with exceptional local accommodations, gourmet cuisine and exciting tour activities for non-riding guests.

Motorcycle Touring in Style

VMT operates motorcycle tours from April through October in the north and central regions of Italy. We visit the most culturally interesting yet little-known areas of Europe, including Valtellina, Ticino, Val d’Aosta and Alto-Adige (Südtirol). In addition to providing the most superb motorcycling venues, these areas blend the languages, history, cultures and cuisines of Italy in ways that allow us to offer our clients a truly unique touring experience. According to weather conditions and time of year, our tours also visit other areas of Italy, such as Tuscany and Umbria as well as Veneto and Emilia-Romagna.

We tour in groups of up to 10 motorcycles (20 guests). Tours include 6 nights full accommodation and five full days of riding. Guests arrange their own transportation to Milan or Florence, from which our shuttles bring them to our “base hotel” for that tour. We spend the first and last nights in the base hotel, with two additional hotels each scheduled for two-night stays.

Guests are outfitted with their motorcycle of choice, including panniers and tank bags. While we offer a wide range of different makes and models, we will attempt to obtain any type of motorcycle a guest may request.

While on the road, we travel in small groups, and each day guests may opt for a more challenging or leisurely ride, depending on the group they travel with. Our ride leaders are experienced European motorcyclists with extensive knowledge of the areas in which we travel. We operate chase vans for all excursions. All riders are issued GSM cell phones pre-programmed with emergency and contact numbers, and GPS units are available at no extra charge.

Alternative Daily Itineraries

In addition to our motorcycle touring program, we offer parallel tours and activities for those guests who are not riding or wish to take a break from motorcycling. We operate a luxury coach to transport non-riders and luggage from hotel to hotel as well as to and from alternate daily activities. These activities include sight-seeing, trekking, cycling, visits to spas and resorts, boating and sailing excursions, shopping and other more “traditional” tourist programs.

Special Amenities

While many organizations operate motorcycle tours in Europe, VMT is unique in offering exceptional services and amenities to our guests. In addition to motorcycle tour guides, each tour also includes a guide for non-riding guests. This guide is responsible for organizing and leading the alternate tour programs as well as acting as a “concierge on call” to take care of any special requests, problems or other needs of our guests.

AGRITURISMO: A Unique Dining and Lodging Experience

We believe that a great motorcycle tour must first and foremost be a great tour in itself. For this reason, VMT tours offer our guests a chance to experience agriturismo, the newest trend in Italian leisure travel. This “agricultural tourism” program means that we stay in restored villas, castles and estates that offer exceptional accommodation and gourmet dining that uses food and wine produced on the premises.

Schedules & Pricing

Tours run 7 months a year, from April thru October, averaging 20 tours per season. Each tour can accommodate up to 30 guests (riding + non-riding) and 10 - 12 motorcycles. Tours include 6 nights lodging and meals (except lunches) as well as motorcycle rental and insurance. Transportation for non-riders as well as for those using the alternative program activities is provided, however admission tickets and other fees for such activities are not included unless a ride is cancelled.
